Amateur Sportsmanship Award

The goal of the Amateur Sportsmanship Award is to recognize Amateur Owner and Adult Amateur exhibitors who exhibit a degree of excellence and integrity by supporting their fellow competitors and volunteering their time and resources to various aspects of the industry. Examples of this include serving on committees, providing sponsorships and promoting the welfare of the horse. Success in the show ring is a secondary factor.

The accolades for the candidates must be earned from December 1 to September 15 of the current competition year. Nominations for the award may come from exhibitors, trainers, colleagues or peers. The nominee must be an Active or Associate member of USHJA. The nomination must include a completed Amateur Sportsmanship Award Nomination Form, contact information and a list of notable accomplishments and/or service. A letter of recommendation is highly recommended. Nominations must be submitted to USHJA by October 3 of each competition year. The members of the USHJA Amateur Committee will review the nominations and select the winner.

The Amateur Sportsmanship Award is presented each year during the Evening of Equestrians Awards Dinner at the USHJA Annual Meeting.
